Dr. Kevin H. Collins began his medical career as an Army medic. In combat it is vital to asses the environment and provide advanced support in a timely manner. By going to a patient's home I can study the area and see the patient’s reactions in their natural environment without adding any additional stress. For most of us the experience of transporting a pet to the veterinarian is not one that we would like to remember. Transportation stress can be detrimental to an already compromised patient.
It is important to see a patient in their natural environment without additional stressors and I may see things at the home that may be pertinent to a patient’s disease process.
